Thompson Learning Co. (TLC) was founded in 2005 by Clay Thompson with one clear goal: to make exam preparation in the construction trades practical, clear, and genuinely useful. For nearly two decades, we have maintained an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, a reflection of our commitment to fair pricing, honest guidance, and results that speak for themselves.
We have helped more than 20,000 tradespeople across the country prepare for their licensing and certification exams. Our courses are built for working professionals, people balancing jobs, families, long hours, and real responsibilities. Because of that, our training focuses on what actually matters for the exam: code navigation, real-world examples, straightforward explanations, and consistent practice that builds confidence over time.
Our curriculum is developed by exam-prep experts who closely follow ICC, NEC, and state-specific licensing standards. We break down the material in a way that makes the code approachable and exam-ready.
At TLC, our mission is simple: to support tradespeople in moving forward. Whether you’re starting your career, advancing to the next license, or stepping into inspection and code enforcement, we are here to help you get there one clear step at a time.
